Exploration of a Strengths-Based Rehabilitation Perspective with Adults Living with Multiple Sclerosis or Spinal Cord Injury

Introduction: Rehabilitation practices that adopt a strengths-based perspective are known as transdisciplinary evidence-based practices. However, little is about whether and how such experienced by people living with neurological condition during their rehabilitation. Objective: To explore core components of rehabilitation (i.e., hope, self-determination, mobilization personal strengths) envisioned in outpatient-based adults multiple sclerosis or spinal cord injury. Methods: A descriptive exploratory study mixed data collection was conducted injury (n = 9) 11). Participants completed two semi-structured interviews the Recovery Promoting Relationship Scale (RPRS). The qualitative analysis relied on hybrid inductive deductive approach. Results: Four themes depict perspective: (1) strengths (e.g., what could offer); (2) hope hinders rehabilitation); (3) accessing information for decision-making navigating system); (4) exercising self-determination influencing length intensity services).
